Babies
In our baby room we cater for your little buds aged 4-12months old. Here your child will begin their learning journey. Our emphasis is on love, play and care so we genuinely provide a home from home with continuity of staff which is of great importance to us. We feel it is vital to work closely with parents/carers to ensure that your baby’s individual routine is followed and maintained. Through lots of play we encourage our little babies to explore the world of colour, shape and texture and to help in their first steps towards language development.
We operate a minimum of 1:3 adult to child ratio to ensure every one of our babies receives the attention, love and care they deserve.
Our Key-worker system in this room ensures your baby receives the individual care & attention they deserve and that their development is being monitored and progressed in line with their individual needs. As with all age groups, you as the parent will be given daily updates as to your baby’s day and of course we are always there and have the time to discuss the development of your baby with his/her key carer.
The room is bright and cheerful which, along with a huge selection of toys, provides a stimulating, colorful environment. Great effort is put into the choice of toys to encourage every babies physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
Our babies benefit from a wide range of daily activities while socialising with other babies their own age and familiar adults. The sleep rooms are lovely, quiet and cosy for our Blath Beag Babies to rest as we recognise how restful sleep is vital to a babies development and is directly beside the baby room so we can safely watch your baby while they rest.
Wobblers
Through lots of play, we encourage our Blath Beag Wobblers to explore their environment and to help in their first steps, both literally, and towards language development! Once your child is one and is ready they will progress from the Baby room. There is lots of scope to encourage walking skills and lots of natural light through the large windows.
Our key worker system also operates in this room which ensures the staff adapt the room and activities to suit all the children’s individual developmental stages. Following on from our baby room, the 4 areas of development we focus on in this room are, Social, Emotional, Intellectual and Physical.
Circle time is incorporated into the day and flash-cards, books and puppets are used to promote, social skills, group interaction, taking turns and language development. This is an age of great discovery and adventure through play both inside and outside. At this age children learn to walk, co-operate, express themselves and their needs.
To encourage learning and new skills these rooms adopt a programme of changing, structured activities from which the children will learn throughout their day. This ensures our Blath Beag Wobblers are continually learning and stimulated by new things, whilst still having the freedom to choose what to play with and how.
Weekly plans are prepared by the staff and incorporate a weekly change of toys, equipment and activities in the room to keep our Blath Beag Wobblers stimulated and ensure they are having fun! Daily activities include story and rhyme time, music and dance as well as painting, jigsaws, threading and so on to encourage fine manipulative skills.
We also have pop-up tents, ball pools etc. to promote gross motor skills. Although our room is carefully laid out and toys are chosen to meet the specific areas of development, the children have free choice of what to play with at all times.
Children at this age develop their walking, balance and co-ordination skills as well as learning to form friendships with those of their own age. This social interaction is a very important part of every child’s development.
As your child develops, they will move into the next room (Blath Beag Toddlers) where the transition is carefully planned to ensure successful settling into their new room.
As with all age groups, you as the parent will be given daily updates as to your child’s day and of course we are always there and have the time to discuss the development of your child with his/her key carer.
